This is our new pastor, Doc Case. He started in the Cheswold charge on July 1, 2018, coming to us from the Certified Lay Minister program of the United Methodist Church.
Doc’s journey of faith has been through different churches. The third child of seven, Doc was raised Presbyterian in a small western New York village where his father was a church elder and trustee. Of course. Doc served at church and went through Sunday school and summer camps, working as a counselor. In 1970, Doc married his high school sweetheart and began to worship in the Catholic church. There he was first called to church leadership, participating in Marriage Encounter, Cursillo (Emmaus), teaching marriage preparation classes (Pre-Cana), was a lector and communion server, and was leader of a prayer group.
Like a lot of people, when the children went off to college, the parents drifted away from the church. About 10 years ago, Doc and Agnes were called back to church and discovered St. Luke’s UMC in Denton, MD. When Doc moved to Delaware, he made his church home at Trinity UMC in Frederica, where he again heard God Calling him to leadership in the church. He did a little bit of everything at Trinity, distributing communion, starting services, dressing the altar, visiting hospice and hospitals, working with grieving spouses, and working as part of the Good News Club team at Lake Forest Elementary School. Outside of Trinity, he taught seniors about technology at Frederica Senior Center, and, with his wife, facilitates a Bible study in the community where he lives.
Doc currently lives in Magnolia with his wife (Agnes) of 50 years. He served as a U.S. Marine from 1967-73 and is retired from Xerox Corporation, where he managed a curriculum writing group. He has experience in electronics and business management. Doc has 2 children and 4 grandchildren who all live in western New York State.
In May of 2019 Doc graduated from The Licensed Local Pastor school.
